ニューカレドニア観光局 新観光プロモーションがスタート! 
New Caledonia Tourism: 2015 New Promotion Launched!


Candlewick has teamed up with New Caledonia Tourism to support their tourism promotion in Japan. We have been preparing for the official launch of the new campaign since last year. Finally, on April 16th, we hosted a media event to kick off the “2015 New Caledonia Tourism Promotion”!



The new promotion aims to further increase Japanese tourists to New Caledonia, and to reach out to women in their 20s to 40s. More than 100 people from various media outlets attended the gathering. Executives and Directors of the bureau flew in from New Caledonia to appoint actress Maki Tamaru and actor Kento Kaku as PR Ambassadors.


2015年度の観光プロモーションとして発表された新コンセプトは、ニューカレドニアを暮らすように旅をしながら、新しい自分に会える場所となることを意図した“Revalue Yourself(リバリュー・ユアセルフ)”。新しいキービジュアルや映像等を通じて、ニューカレドニアの魅力を訴求していきます。

“Revalue Yourself ”, the new concept for tourism promotion in 2015, was unveiled. The concept proposes traveling around New Caledonia as if you live there, to relax, unwind, and find your new self. New key visuals and movies were specially created to promote the charm and attraction of New Caledonia.


キャンドルウィックでは、プレス発表会の企画・運営にはじまり、製作物の製作、また、観光親善大使のムービーやナショナル ジオグラフィック チャンネルさんとのコラボレーションにて製作をしました観光局オフィシャルムービーなどの製作の企画を担当しております。イベント当日の詳しい様子は、後日こちらのブログでご紹介します。

Candlewick handled the planning and organizing of this media event, producing a whole range of creative works, planning and producing video clips for the PR Ambassadors, and collaborating in the production of the official movie clip with the National Geographic Channel.

英国発スキンケアブランドde Mamiel、新宿伊勢丹、銀座三越にて期間限定販売しました  
UK skincare brand “de Mamiel” at Shinjuku Isetan and Ginza-Mitsukoshi

2010年にイギリス・ロンドンの施術ルームからスタートしたスキンケアブランドde Mamiel(デ・マミエール)。キャンドルウィックでは、ブランディングから店舗販売促進、PR活動に携わり、昨年12月に日本でローンチしました。

UK skincare brand “de Mamiel” was created in 2010 by Annee de Mamiel, an acupuncturist, aromatherapist and healing holistic facialist, who sows the seeds for Botaniques in her treatment room of in London. Candlewick has been supporting de Mamiel with its branding, distribution, PR and finally the brand launch in Japan in December 2014.

de Mamiel’s signature product, Altitude Oil, is the ultimate multi-tasking travel aide – a powerful antibacterial, antiviral and antiseptic oil blend which supports the immune system, and also helps you keep a clear head when you’re always on the go. This product has been featured by one of the most prominent department stores in Japan, Shinjuku Isetan, and was sold for only a limited time at its special exhibition site from March 18th to 24th. The exhibition focuses on various products that help relieve and protect from the effects of hay fever, which is especially problematic for many during the Japanese spring – the popular cherry blossom viewing season, Hanami.

The PR message was to “enjoy Hanami with fashionable items that also protect you from hay fever”. Candlewick came up with an idea of a de Mamiel and TECMASK collaboration. Candlewick also supported this stylish brand mask with its product and brand development. This message was well received by visitors during the exhibition and added quality value to both brands.

また、銀座三越 5階 G-スペースにて、3月18日~3月31日まで開催された限定ポップアップショップ 『SUPERIOR CLOSET INED international YVON × 大草直子』でも、人気スタイリスト大草直子さんのご愛用品としてアルティテュードオイルを販売しました。
de Mamiel’s Altitude Oil was also sold at a pop-up shop sited in Ginza-Mitsukoshi from March 18th to 31st. This pop-up shop was entitled “SUPERIOR CLOSET INED international YVON × Naoko Okusa”, directed by popular fashion stylist Naoko Okusa, exhibiting a collection of all her favorite products.

A Guinness World Record® for the ‘Largest Kendama Lesson’

The participants with joy of being awarded the Guinness World Records.


On February 22nd, the ‘Shirakawa Qatar Sports Park’ opened in Fukushima’s Shirakawa-city, with the support of the Qatar Friend Fund (QFF). QFF financially supports various reconstruction projects of those areas affected by The Great East Japan Earthquake.



Kendama, a traditional Japanese cup and ball game, has attained worldwide popularity. Candlewick supported the organization of the ‘Largest Kendama Lesson’, in which over 250 people participated. This was the first time such a large Kendama lesson had taken place, and the event at this new sporting venue secured Shirakawa City a spot in the Guinness World Record Book .
On the day of the ceremony, participants were given an original pouch made using traditional Qatar textiles, together with a Kendama with logos of Shirakawa-city and QFF at the entrance of the newly opened  ‘ANNABI Sports Plaza’. The participants then moved up to futsal court where a Guinness World Record adjudicator waited to counted and confirm participant numbers. A total of 280 participants were officially counted at the event.

At the beginning of the event, actor and QFF goodwill ambassador Mr. Tetsuya Bessho cheered the participants and this was followed by an explanation of the rules, given by the official record adjudicator. Finally, the ‘Largest Kendama Lesson’ began!! We welcomed Mr. Nobuaki ‘NOB’ Kawamoto,   KENDAMAN, as the guest speaker. He is a pioneer of street style Kendama and has lectured on the history and universal design of Kendama, as well as the many styles of Kendama played internationally and amazing live performance.

Mr. Nobuaki ‘NOB’ Kawamoto gave an entertaining lecture on the history of Kendama.



Largest Kendama Lesson


Monitoring of the Guinness World Records was very strict and throughout the lesson 6 observers closely watched to see if anyone left the room, or were not listening to/ participating in the lecture. Unfortunately, a few people were disqualified, but the final count saw 268 citizens officially accredited as members of the ‘Largest Kendama Lesson’. The official certificate of the Guinness World Records® was proudly granted to Shirakawa-city’s Board of Education.

The official certificate is now displayed at the entrance of the ANNABI Sports Plaza and will welcome the many people visiting there. We were proud and happy to successfully hold an opening ceremony that’s sure to be remembered by the all the participants.
