As the Japanese office for the Monaco Government Tourist & Convention Authority, we organised an online tour of the principality in cooperation with tour company Veltra, which organises and delivers tours and activities with local partners all over the world. In the present world where it’s difficult to travel abroad even if one wants to, we carried out this live event so that the local atmosphere can be enjoyed as close as possible to the real thing.

Sportscaster Mr.Florent Dabadie flew in from Japan to show viewers around Monaco, whist sharing Monaco’s messages of sustainability and sports.

At the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort Chef Marcel Ravin of the Micheli-starred Le Bleu Bay restaurant gave us a tour of the hotel’s 400 square metre vegetable garden. The two had a great chat about how the Le Bleu Bay restaurant uses fresh vegetables from the garden to create gourmet vegetarian and vegan meals.
The hotel also utilises solar panels on its roof. With over 300 sunny days a year, Monaco is involved sustainable initiatives such as solar energy and ‘urban gardens’ that can be found on many of Monaco’s rooftops and terraces.

This year, Monaco held three Grand Prix within a period of a month; the Historic Grand Prix, the E-Prix, and the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix! During last week’s online Veltra tour, Monaco was preparing for the F1 race. With Mr. Dabadie’s great negotation skills, we were able to ride around the Grand Prix course in a ‘Mobee’, creating an exciting experience for all viewers!

A Mobee is car sharing system for electrical vehicles. There are no specific stations for Mobee, with the cars being able to picked up, driven around and parked freely. Drivable with just an international driver’s license, it’s a convenient way for tourists to get around Monaco. During the tour we were shown aorund in the newly introduced five-seater Mobee.

Whilst the Formula 1 Grand Prix is a huge event for Monaco, the Formula 1 of electric racing cars, the E Grand Prix, is also noteworthy! Monaco has been a participant since the E Grand Prix’s launch, with 2021 being the 4th time the event was held, and the first time to be held on the exact same course as the F1 race! The unique electric sounds of the Formula E also make it a race not to miss!

For the online tour of Monaco we invited Sportscaster Mr.Florent Dabadie, who flew in from Japan to show viewers around Monaco, whist sharing Monaco’s messages of sustainability and sports.

One of the highlights of the tour was the Monte Carlo Country Club!
We were lucky enough to get access to the famous members-only red clay courts that look out over the Mediterranean Sea, where Kei Nishikori finished as runner-up in 2019. It was definitely a sight many do not usually get to see!
Mr.Dabadie, who has been commentating on the French Open and other international tennis tournaments, stood on the center court and gave a very compelling speech, which would surely make any tennis fan want to play here at least once in their lives!

We are looking forward to the day when we can all travel to Monaco, and be able to experience Monaco’s ‘Responsible Luxury’ for ourselves!
